Terms of Service

Your responsibilities, the scope of our service, and the conditions that apply when you use NY Property Tax.

Last updated: September 13, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of NY Property Tax, including nypropertytax.org, the homeowner portal, and our browser extension (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Smart Solution Bot ("we," "us," or "our"). "You" means the person using the Service or the organization that person is authorized to represent.

Read these Terms and our Privacy Policy before creating an account or purchasing a service. Contact [email protected] if you have questions.

1. What the Service provides

The Service helps you organize property information, complete authorizations, and manage property tax grievance tasks. The work included in a paid service is described in the applicable plan or service agreement. Creating an account alone does not mean a grievance has been filed.

We do not control county decisions and do not guarantee eligibility, an assessment reduction, a particular tax saving, or a decision date. General website content and examples are informational; they are not individualized legal or tax advice.

2. Your account and permitted use

  • Provide accurate account and contact information and keep it current.
  • Protect your password and grant account access only to people you authorize. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Use the Service lawfully. Do not submit false records, impersonate another person, bypass access controls, interfere with the Service, or use automated methods to create accounts without permission.
  • If you act for a property owner or organization, you must have authority to provide information and give the relevant instructions.

We may restrict or suspend access to address misuse, security concerns, or a material breach of these Terms, subject to applicable law and any service agreement.

3. Property records, signatures, and deadlines

You are responsible for providing accurate information, reviewing documents presented for your approval, and signing only authorizations you are entitled to give. Notify us of errors or changes that could affect your request.

Public records and automated lookups may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect. Review property identifiers and assessment details before relying on them. Follow the deadlines and instructions in your service agreement and official notices; if the filing status is unclear, contact support promptly.

4. Browser extension and external systems

The extension supports property lookup and related workflow tasks. Review its permissions and use it consistently with applicable law and the rules of the websites you access. County websites and external systems may change, experience outages, or restrict access, which can affect functionality.

You can remove the extension through your browser settings. Removing it does not cancel a paid subscription or delete your account.

5. Payments, subscriptions, and cancellation

Review the price, billing frequency, renewal terms, taxes, and service scope displayed before confirming a purchase. Recurring charges apply only under the subscription terms you accept. The effective date of a plan change or cancellation depends on the applicable plan and billing confirmation.

Use the available billing controls or contact support for cancellation help. A subscription cancellation and an account-deletion request are separate actions. Contact us about refund requests; eligibility depends on the applicable purchase terms and your rights under law.

Account records are handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Cancellation does not guarantee immediate deletion of every document, email copy, or record that must be retained.

6. Your content and our technology

You retain your rights in information and documents you submit. You give us permission to store, process, and transmit that content as needed to provide the requested Service, consistent with your authorizations and our Privacy Policy.

The Service's software, design, and other proprietary materials remain the property of their respective owners. Except as permitted by law or applicable licenses, you may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from them without permission. You must have the rights or authorization needed for content you submit.

7. Availability and warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every browser or third-party system.

This section does not override an express commitment in your service agreement or a warranty or consumer protection that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Limitations of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Company and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service. This may include consequential losses such as lost profits or business interruption, where the exclusion is lawful.

These limitations do not exclude liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any other liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude. They do not waive statutory privacy rights or other mandatory consumer protections. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from contacting a regulator or pursuing a remedy available under applicable law.

9. Third-party claims

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify the Company against third-party claims and reasonable resulting costs to the extent caused by your unlawful use of the Service, knowing submission of false information, or unauthorized use of another person's content. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own wrongful conduct.

10. Changes and contact

We may revise these Terms as the Service or legal requirements change. The date above identifies this version. We will provide notice and obtain agreement to changes where required by law. A revision does not retroactively remove rights that cannot lawfully be changed.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. For questions about your account, a purchase, or these Terms, email [email protected].
