When I moved to Nassau County, Long Island, I was flooded with mail from tax grievance companies promising to reduce my property taxes—but for a steep price. Many highlight that they "only profit if you save," but what they don't emphasize is how much they take from your savings—often 20% to 35%. That can add up to someone's entire weekly salary, even when the process itself isn't as complicated as they make it seem.

As a software engineer, I knew there had to be a better way. So, I built an app (along with a Chrome extension) that lets homeowners grieve their property taxes easily and affordably on their own. The experts at ARC recommend grieving your taxes every year, win or lose, to help ensure fairness in the long run.

My goal is simple: everyone should pay their fair share of property taxes based on the size of their home. No one living in a smaller house should pay more than someone with a larger property in the same school district. But to fix this broken system that's persisted for decades, we need everyone to participate in the grievance process.
